Lenborough Hoard talk, Sat 11 April, in Aylesbury
18 March 2015
The discovery of the largest hoard of silver Anglo-Saxon coins at Lenborough in north Bucks will be the subject of a talk at the County Museum in Aylesbury on Saturday 11 April. The speaker will be Gareth Williams, a coin expert with the British Museum who is currently analysing the find. More than 5,000 coins were discovered by a metal-detector. The hoard was buried in a lead bucket two feet below the surface. The talk, which will be free, is a late addition to the Society’s winter lecture series, and will be held in the Learning Zone of the County Museum, in Church Street, Aylesbury, starting at 2.30pm.
