Below is a list of events arranged by the Historic Buildings Group for Autumn 2011. If you wish to know more about the group please see the group's web page, or contact

Xmas 2011

Wednesday
14 December
8pm onwards

Buildings Group Christmas Social
PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF VENUE

An informal meeting in a historic inn: The Bell Inn, Aston Clinton.

A chance to meet for informal conversation (not necessarily about buildings!). We have chosen the Bell Inn instead of the King's Head because it is easier to park and hopefully more accessible for people. It is on London Road in Aston Clinton, the old A41.

Please come and join us for a pre-Christmas drink.

Winter 2012

Saturdays
28 January
and
4 February
all day

Great Horwood historic house survey day

A chance to take part in a measured survey of one of Great Horwood's historic buildings, following the village survey there in October. Previous experience is not required, and this will be a great opportunity to learn how to carry out a historic building survey if you haven't done one before.

The exact date is to be confirmed, but if you are would like to join the survey group on either day, please contact

Saturday
24 March
10.30am-onwards

Guided tour of Stowe New Inn

A specially organised tour of the newly restored New Inn, on the edge of Stowe's landscape park, led by National Trust archaeologist Gary Marshall.

Meet at the car park entrance to Stowe New Inn. This is off Stowe Avenue, west of Buckingham. The tour will start at 10.30am, followed by possible access to climb the Corinthian Arch. Members of the group may then have lunch at the New Inn and/or tour the Stowe Gardens.

• Members of the Historic Buildings Group helped with the measured survey at the New Inn in advance of the restoration project. See Stowe New Inn - scale drawings for the National Trust.

• The NT is running a detailed one-day seminar on the restoration project on Tuesday 21 February. See Stowe's New Inn Seminar.

Please note that for insurance purposes all buildings group members must join the Buckinghamshire Archaeological Society. There is no separate subscription for the buildings group but a small meeting charge will be made to cover room hire and refreshments.
