  • What we do:
  • The British Association for Local History is the national charity which promotes local history and serves local historians. The association provides help and support for individuals, and acts as the umbrella association for local societies across the UK.
  • Our activities:
  • The association arranges conferences, lectures and skills workshops, in-person and online, both by itself and jointly with other bodies and societies.
  • Our flagship Local History Day is held annually in London in June, while other events take place across the country.
  • We host a range of online events, including the monthly ‘Local History Hour’, webinars on topics relevant to local historians, and skills webinars on subjects such as developing your website, publishing your research, and making the most of social media.
  • Most online events are free for individual members, and discounts are available to members of our member societies.
  • Contact:
  • For general enquiries, please email our society administrator at admin@balh.org.uk, or contact our individual officers via the addresses on our website.
